Go down with all your guns blazing!

Stardust ended its mission life a couple nights ago by firing all its engines full throttle out in the black darkness of deep space. Didn't know about it? Well! It was the most ambitious mission in our earth's entire history of exploration. Twelve years. Visiting three comets, sending back samples of a comet (first time in history) to study (which is still ongoing six years later--I am proud to say I am an amateur part of the scientific community involved in the study).

Here is an artist's rendition of the last awesome roar of noble Stardust!

Love how it ended its mission. Not with a whimper or a crash into a hard body. Instead the mission directors decided to put the pedal to the metal and empty the tanks in one glorious 15 minutes full ride to hell. They estimate it might have taken the ship up to 75,000 miles per hour. Maaaaaan! I'd like that kinda ride when I reach my exit point someday!

Hah! Suck on that, all you gravity-bound drivers; who go way too slow in the left lane, right turn singal perpetually blinking, oblivious to everyone else.

I say: get the fuck outta my way! I'm comin thru like Stardust on burnout muthafucka!!!
